Peter joined the Board as Chief Executive on 1 February 2012.

Peter previously worked for Danaher Corporation and was most recently Group President, Emerging Markets, of its Gilbarco Veeder-Root subsidiary and President of Danaher Middle East. Prior to joining Danaher, Peter spent seven years at the Boston Consulting Group working at its offices in London and Chicago across a range of industries where he was a leader in its global Industrial and Sales & Marketing Practices. Having graduated from the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, Peter spent nine years as an officer in the British Armed Forces. He originally trained as an Army helicopter pilot, and subsequently saw active service with both NATO and the UN.

Chris joined the Board in May 2009 as Group Finance Director.

Following an early career with PricewaterhouseCoopers he joined TI Group plc in 1995 where he held a number of audit and finance roles. Following the merger of TI Group with Smiths Group plc in December 2000 he went on to hold further senior finance roles, most recently as Finance Director of their Specialty Engineering division.

Ian has been working at Shanks since June 2003 where he started as Logistics Director before quickly progressing to Managing Director in April 2004.

Ian began his career in waste management at Cleansing Service Group before joining Biffa in 1978. In 1990, Ian started working as International Sales Manager at Rechem International where he covered sales in America and the Far East. Prior to his appointment at Shanks, Ian worked at Sita UK for 12 years, most recently as Sita UK Managing Director.

Michael has been working for Shanks for almost 20 years and was appointed Managing Director of Shanks Netherlands in April 2008.

After obtaining a degree in law, Michael started his career at Klok Containers where he gained 5 years extensive experience as Operations Manager. In 1997, Michael continued his career in waste management in Michigan, USA as General Manager at WM International Lansing. Returning to The Netherlands in 1998, Michael became Operations Manager at Icova - the largest of the Shanks Dutch companies. By 2000 he was appointed Managing Director of Icova, leading its development during the past decade.

After 20 years at Sita, Philippe joined Shanks as Country Manager in 1998 when Shanks plc bought all the Sita activites in Belgium.

Philippe began his career in the waste industry in 1993 where he gained experience in waste collection and treatment facilities in the North of France and Belgium, progressing through various management levels. Philippe is a board member of the Waste Activity Federation and also of the Walloon Municipalities Federation.
