Shanks Group plc's response to the Lord Davies Report: Women on Boards
We reference the Nomination Committee section in the Corporate Governance section of our 2011 Annual Report (pages 75 and 76) which was published in June 2011.
In particular, on page 76, it is stated that;
"Following discussion of the recommendations of the Lord Davies report on Board Room Diversity, whilst the Committee at the current time has not determined to set a specific female Board member quota, appointments to the Board will continue to be based on the diversity of contribution and required competencies, irrespective of gender."
It is also confirmed that Shanks is an equal opportunities employer and there is no reason why there should not be female representation on the Board in future.
Shanks are similarly committed to appointing the best available person to any role within the Group regardless of gender. We also reference our 2011 CR Report which, at page 28, provides a high level breakdown of our male/female employee split across our principal countries of operations.
We shall of course continue to review our policies in this area, including both best practice as well as regulatory disclosure requirements.
